Scooter Camping

I wanted to scooter camp for a long time.  I was looking for a camping experience that was based on what I could carry on a scooter.  The camping location needed be one in which I could drive to the site and park or one that would be a rather easy and short hike away from where the scooter was parked.   I wanted to have a comfort level in where I parked the scooter and where I camped.  I also wanted it to be free.

This is a different experience than Car Camping.  Car Camping in Taiwan people bring a lot of gear.  Camp sites are often as expensive as hotels and people camp right next to each other.  It is kind of hard to believe.  In the USA when we want to get away, it isn’t just getting away from the city is it getting away from people as well.

I finally found a perfect place to camp that fit all my needs.  I found a “tree house” that was big enough to fit my tent.  I set up at dusk and packed at dawn.  I enjoyed the sunset, mountain views of several cities, views of a river and ocean.  I had a good place to park my scooter, the hike to the tree house was uphill but easy and only about 20 minutes if you know the shortcut.  The temperature was perfect.  The only negative was that there was strong wind all night.  It was hard to sleep because of the noise and movement of the tent blowing in the wind.  The positive was that because of the breeze there were no insects, no mosquitoes and no condensation in the tent.
