Glastory Arts Center

Taiwan has created something called Industrial Tourism.  I really like the idea.  It is a novel way to learn about local industries through DIY (do it yourself) projects.  Participating factories have created museums and educational centers to exhibit and provide hands on experiences about what they do.  This is great for kids but adults can enjoy it too.

This blog post is about the Glastory Arts Center.  As you may have guessed by it’s name it is about glass.  The Glastory Art Center is a place where they share their work and knowledge with those who are interested in the field.  It is a place that you can explore, touch and interact with glass.  It is kind of like a museum, art studio, game room with glass making demonstrations and a variety of DIY projects.  We did 3 projects.  Mine was a blue glass that with the help of my friends we put my name on it and a map of Taiwan with a foot print on it using our own cut out decals. Then had it sandblasted to frost the glass, took off the decals, washed it and you can see the results.  We thought that it was fun and a good learning experience.  It is located in the Dansui area and their website is www.glastory.com.
