Hualien Tourism Sugar Factory

In 2002, due to the long-term lowering of sugar prices the Taiwan Sugar Corporation decided to put the Hualien Sugar Factory, with its more than 80 years of sugar production, to rest, and to develop it for tourism and recreation instead. I enjoyed my short visit there. I like that historic feeling of walking back in time and getting a glimpse of how things were. Interesting to see some of the Japanese old style buildings.
