Hehuanshan Mountain

My friend Eric and I went on a 5 day 4 night east coast Taiwan trip.  Eric did all the planning and I just followed.  We started in Taipei and took an express bus to Luodong.  We rented motor scooters there and took off for Hehuanshan mountain.  We got lucky with the weather.  The forecast called for 100% chance of rain and it did rain but not 100% of the time.   At the top of the mountain we had clear visibility and mild temperature, that may be rare.

I felt a sense of accomplishment making it up the mountain on a motor scooter.  That was put into perspective when we saw 3 guys who stayed in our hostel battle the rain and make it up  Hehuanshan on bicycles.  But when we were at the top we saw a girl in a wedding dress on a bike who claimed that she rode it all the way up the mountain from Hualien.  If she did, well she is superwoman.  I did get my photo with her.

A nice place near the top is Cafe 3158.  The 3158 is the altitude of the cafe in meters (10,360 feet).  With a clear moment and mild temperatures it was a great place to enjoy a coffee and the view.  We also did a couple of short hikes to peak summits.
