Linkou Night Market

There are many night markets in Taiwan and it is part of the Taiwanese life style.  If you don’t live in Linkou you may have never attended or heard about the Linkou Night Market.   This is a relatively new night market, in my memory it must be less than 2 years old.  This night market is only open on Sunday and Wednesday nights.  It is also completely in the open so if it is raining don’t go.  Things could change but from what I have observed Wednesday night has more venders and a bigger crowd.

I took these photos last night.  When you see the scooters doubled parked you know it is market night.  There is what you would expect in any night market; good food, strange food, a lot of people, some entertaining things to do and shopping.  You can see all of that in the photos…big shrimp and people fishing for little shrimp, lots of people and so on.

I will only talk about 1 food stand, native Taiwanese please share you comments on your favorite food here.  My favorite is the guy selling the sandwiches.  They are great and I go there for that on Wednesday night.  Unless he changed his pattern he is just there on Wednesday night.  The meat is perfectly cooked, the bread bun is great and what makes it so tasty for me is the raw onion and BBQ sauce.  I love it!  And it is only $40 NTD about $1.35 USD. If you buy 3 you get a discount.

It is located near the intersection of Zhongshan Road and Jialin Road with an entrance from both roads.  Look for the McDonalds on Zhongshan Road from there you can find the market.
